Page 11 - Yom Kippurim

The Torah commands us to observe Yom Kippurim, which is the Day of Forgiveness on the tenth day of the seventh month.

Our duty is to keep the fast from the evening of the ninth day of the seventh month till evening of the tenth day of the seventh month. In addition to fasting, the Torah commands us to do the holy assembly and to pray for the forgiveness of our sins.

At the end of the daytime prayer, the regular evening prayer takes place during which the Hazzan takes the Sefer Torah out of Hekhal, blesses the community and wishes the long life to the community members, then the Hazzan takes the Sefer Torah in his arms and walks it around the community members, the community members kiss the Sefer Torah
