Page 4 - The explanation of the Ten Commandments

God gave the prophet Moshe the Ten Commandments on two stone tablets on Mount Sinai.

We have two types of Commandments:

1) The first four commandments describe the duties of humans toward God.
2) The next six commandments describe the duties of humans toward their fellow men and to himself (herself).

From the Ten Commandments result the following prohibitions and regulations:

The first commandment orders us to believe that God is omnipotent, holy, and merciful.

The second commandment orders us not to pray to anyone or anything except God and not to worship anyone except God, for example a creation or a picture.

The third commandment orders us to revere the name of God, to use the name of God with the highest respect and forbids us to use God's name in vain and in meaningless conversations.

The fourth commandment orders us to honor Saturday as the holy day of God and prohibits us to do work on this day. Saturday is the day sanctified by God, it is necessary to devote this day to collective worship in the kenasa.

The fifth commandment requires children to love and honor their parents. Also commanded to the children is to ensure the parent's satisfaction, to fulfill the will of the parents and make them happy. The father is classed as the monarch, so it is required to honor him and respect him. We also have to honor community leaders, teachers and the elders.

The sixth commandment prohibits murder, ie the taking of your own life or the life any other person.

The seventh commandment prohibits adultery and commands us to avoid similar sins.

The eighth commandment prohibits stealing and any unauthorized acquisition of foreign affairs by stealing or deceit.

The ninth commandment prohibits us from bearing false witness, from committing perjury and false denouncement.

The tenth commandment prohibits us from yearning for something that does not belong to us and also prohibits envy, because these qualities make a person dissatisfied with his / her situation and may move the person to commit crime.
